Data Deletion
The short version
- You can ask us to delete your data at any time by emailing [email protected] with the subject "Data deletion".
- If you connected Facebook, Instagram, Messenger or WhatsApp to Jwab, you can also remove Jwab's access in your Meta settings. Then email us to delete what we already hold.
- We confirm your request, delete or anonymise the data within 30 days, and email you when it is done.
- If you are a customer of a business that uses Jwab, contact that business first - it controls its conversations with you.
1. What this page covers
This page explains how to have your data deleted from Jwab, including data we received from Meta when you connected a Facebook, Instagram, Messenger or WhatsApp Business account through Facebook Login, Facebook Login for Business or the WhatsApp Business Platform. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which describes what we collect and why, and it follows Meta's Platform Terms and Egypt's Personal Data Protection Law (Law No. 151 of 2020).
When you connect a channel, the data we may receive from Meta includes:
- your business, WhatsApp Business account, page and phone number identifiers;
- the display names and profile details of the connected pages or numbers;
- the access tokens that let Jwab send and receive messages on your behalf;
- the messages, attachments and contact details sent and received through the connected channel.
2. Remove Jwab's access in your Meta account
You can stop Jwab from accessing your Meta accounts at any time, without contacting us:
- Facebook: go to Settings & privacy → Settings → Business integrations (or Apps and websites), find Jwab and select Remove.
- Instagram: go to Settings and activity → Website permissions → Apps and websites, find Jwab and select Remove.
- WhatsApp Business: in Meta Business Settings, open WhatsApp Accounts, select your account and remove Jwab from its Partners.
Meta sometimes renames these menus, so the labels may differ slightly.
Removing access stops new data from reaching Jwab, and the connected channel stops working in Jwab. It does not delete the data we already hold - to delete that, follow section 4.
3. Disconnect a channel in Jwab
Workspace admins can disconnect WhatsApp and other channels from Settings → Channels in app.jwab.ai. Disconnecting stops Jwab from sending and receiving messages on that channel.
Your conversation history stays in your workspace so your team can still look it up. To delete it, request deletion as described below.
4. Request deletion
Email [email protected] with the subject "Data deletion". Please send it from the email address on your Jwab account if you have one, and include:
- your workspace (company) name;
- the WhatsApp number, Facebook page or Instagram account that was connected, if any;
- whether you want your whole workspace deleted, or only specific data.
What happens next:
- Confirmation: we reply within 3 business days to confirm that we received your request and, if needed, to check that it comes from someone authorised to make it.
- Deletion: we delete or anonymise the data within 30 days of confirming the request.
- Completion: we email you when it is done, with a reference you can quote if you have questions later.
Deleting a workspace cannot be undone. If you want to keep a copy of your data, say so in your request and we will send it to you before we delete anything.
5. What we delete
- Your account and your team members' profiles.
- Connected channel credentials and Meta account identifiers, including access tokens.
- Conversations, messages, attachments, voice notes, contacts, notes and tags.
- Knowledge base content, campaigns, templates and AI settings.
6. What we may keep
- Billing and tax records that the law requires us to keep, for as long as it requires.
- Backups, which are cycled out on their own schedule, so a copy may remain there for a short period before it is overwritten.
- Security logs, kept for a limited period and then deleted or aggregated.
- Data we must keep to meet a legal obligation, or to establish or defend legal claims.
We do not use retained data for any other purpose.
Messages already sent through WhatsApp, Instagram or Messenger also exist on the recipients' devices and on Meta's systems. We cannot delete those copies; Meta's own policies apply to them.
7. Customers of businesses that use Jwab
If you messaged a business that uses Jwab and want your messages or contact details deleted, please contact that business directly - it controls its conversations with you, and we act on its instructions.
If you email us instead, tell us the name of the business and your phone number or account name. We will pass your request to the business and help it respond.
